Obituary

Bob D. Otto was born in Buhler, Kansas to parents Bertrum and Zella (DeVasher) Otto on March 29, 1935. He went to be with his Lord on February 14, 2013 in Augusta, Kansas. He married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Whiteman, on December 28, 1956. They were married for 56 years.

His career as an educator, coach, Drivers Education teacher and High School Guidance Counselor touched student's lives in Brookville, Zenda, Rose Hill, Winfield, and Central Burden High Schools. In the late 1980's Bob was Admission Counselor and adjunct teacher in Psychology at Friends University. General Psychology was his love which he taught for a combined 30 years at Butler Community College and Cowley County Community College. He retired from Winfield High School in 1997, in 2001 from Central of Burden, and from Cowley County Community College in the spring of 2012.

Bob enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, fishing, and playing his guitar while singing with Arlene. He and Arlene would regularly sing at the Kansas Veterans' Home, the Cowley County Country Opry, the Atlanta Labor Day activities and at church. Bob's latest hobby was raising pure bred Black Angus Cattle.

Bob is survived by
His wife: Arlene of the home;
His daughters: Judy and husband, Jim Mareda of Wichita; Barbara and husband, Jerry Brown of Lee's Summit, MO;
His son: Gary and wife, Amber Otto of Parker, CO;
His grandchildren: Luke, Rachel, and Jesse Brown, Madison, Noah, Morgan and Claire Otto;
His sister: Evva Morris of Arlington, TX;
His sister-in-law: Mary Otto of Burden; and
several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Bert, Dale, Ted, and Joe Dan Otto.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Central of Burden High School. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Bob Otto Educational Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
