Obituary

Billy P. Weaver, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, July 20, 2018 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Born June 11, 1925 in Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of William Riley and Abigail (Rush) Weaver. He was raised and received his education in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1943. After School he joined the United States Army and proudly served his county during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the army Billy returned to Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Pauline Quier on August 30, 1947 at the Dexter Baptist Church. The couple made their first home in Dexter. Billy spent his life as a farmer and welder, working in the aircraft industry as well as being self-employed. Most his life was spent in Cowley County, however the family did live in California, where Billy worked as a welder on several projects including the Apollo Project. In addition to farming, Billy enjoyed working on and restoring old tractors.

His family includes his wife Pauline Weaver of Winfield; his daughters Dianna DeShazo and husband, Mike of Winfield; Bernice Dudeck and husband, Rod of New Salem; Debra Martin and husband, Mark of Dexter; Kim Bair and husband, Roger of Burden; his brother Curtis Weaver and wife, Glenda of Wichita; and his eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Weaver, Kenneth Weaver, and Kermit Weaver, and two sisters, Genevieve Nicholson and Gail Wilkinson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Billy's name for the Hopeful Hearts Horse Camp in Burden. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
