BILLY JOE MORGAN, 78, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Saturday morning, April 14, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Born on February 28, 1934 in Deleware County, Oklahoma. he was the son of Archie & Alta (Lackey) Morgan. At a young age, the family moved to Winfield where he received his education. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1952. He went to work as a welder at Smith & Moon in Winfield.

He was united in marriage in 1953 to Wilma Badley. To this union 4 sons were born, Randy, Gary, Norman & Darryl. The couple later divorced

Billy was united in marriage to Eula Thompson Cozad in 1981. He was employed at Struthers Thermo Flood as a welding foreman until 1989.

He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed playing cards.

His sons: Darryl Morgan of Emporia, KS; and Norman Morgan of Wichita, KS;
His sister: Treva Harrod and husband Rod of Winfield, KS;
His step-sons: David Cozad and wife Barbara of Berthoud, CO; Dale Cozad and wife Susan of Longmont, CO; and Neal Cozad and wife Jeanene of Loveland, CO;
His 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Randy Morgan and Gary Morgan; his brothers. J.R. and Marvin; his sister, Shirley Artherton; and his daughter-in-law, Kristi Morgan.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2012. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

Memorials have been established in Mr. Morgan's name for Fellowship Meals at First Church of the Nazarene and the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
