Dean Crittenden

Billy Dean Crittenden, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, February 22, 2019 at Wellington Health & Rehab.
Born September 6, 1938 in Great Bend, Kansas, he was the son of William O. and Mildred Fern (Story) Crittenden. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1956. He then attended business college in Kansas City. He entered the United States Marines in 1957. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal in 1960.
He was united in marriage to Sharon L. Beery in 1961 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Rollins, Wyoming and lived in Colorado for a short time before making Winfield their home. As a young man, Bill worked at his dad's body shop, Bill's Body Shop. He took over the shop when his father retired. He worked for Elizabeth Everly at Everly Lumber Company and managed it for over 20 years. Bill then owned and operated Bill's Appraisal Service, retiring in February 2009.
Bill was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and the Cowley County Fair Board. He was responsible for bringing the PRCA rodeos to Winfield. Bill enjoyed camping and loved his family and his God.
His family includes his wife Sharon of Winfield; son B. Chad Crittenden and wife, Denise of Winfield; grandchildren, Dustin O. Crittenden and wife, Stacie of Winfield; Jared A. Crittenden and wife, Melissa of Winfield; Tianna C. Loffer and husband, Logan of Coffeyville; and great grandchildren, Emma L. Charvat, Letty C. Loffer, Noah G.W. Loffer, and Barrett Dean Crittenden.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Michell "Shelley" Lee Reynolds, an infant son Bobby Dean Crittenden and his sister Wanda.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Bill's name for New Hope Fellowship Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
