Betty Blair Mastio, 91, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, August 15, 2014 at Larksfield Place in Wichita.

Born August 23, 1922 in St. Paul Minnesota, she was the daughter of Willis and Harriet (Ridley) Shaver. She attended school in St. Paul and graduated from nurses training at Bethesba Hospital in St. Paul.

Betty served as a Registered Nurse, 2nd Lieutenant, in the United Stated Army Nurses Corps, in the Pacific Islands, India, and Burma, during World War II. After the war, she worked as a flight attendant for the Arabian-America Oil Company where she engaged in flying personnel from New York to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. She later worked as a flight attendant for TWA flying from New York to Africa.

On September 13, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harvey Blair Sr., in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The couple made their home in Atlanta, Kansas. Mr. Blair preceded her in death on November 6, 1972.

On January 17, 1992 she married George Mastio, and in 2007 the couple moved to Wichita.

Her 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lewis, and two brothers, Don and Tom Shaver.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Atlanta Cemetery in Atlanta. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Betty's name for the Salvation Army. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
