Obituary

BETTY J. HINKLEY, 69, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at her home.

Born November 29, 1941 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Emma (Struble) Anderson. She was raised and attended school in Ponca City before moving to Winfield, where she graduated from Winfield High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Robert A. Hinkley on January 23, 1960 in Winfield. She worked at Hopkins Bakery and McClellan's as a young adult. The couple later owned and operated B & B Antiques for 35 years, retiring in June of 2004. Betty also made a career taking care of her family. Mr. Hinkley preceded her in death on March 11, 2005.

She attended the Church of Christ, First Baptist Church and most recently the Crossroads Community Church. She was a faithful member of the coffee club, which met everyday at the same time. Betty was a collector. She collected everything from angels and M&M figurines to Snoopy and Smurfs. She loved going to garage sales where she would find many additions to her collections.

Her family includes:
Her son: Kenneth Hinkley and wife, Mary of Winfield;
Her daughters: Anita Gray and significant other, Randy Frazee of Winfield; and Michele Hinkley and husband, Curtis Gootee of Winfield;
Her sisters: Carol McKee and Wanda Gard, both of Ponca City, Oklahoma;
Her grandchildren: LaShauna, Bobbie, Jeremy, Anthony, Laura, Desmond, Sara, Andra and Shane;
Her 9 great grandchildren; and
Her 11 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her nephew, Tony McKee.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8.

A Memorial has been established in Betty's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
