Betty worked for Binney & Smith Crayola Factory, the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center and for Harmonds Squares & Levels.

She was united in marriage to Charles Harris in 1981. The couple made their home in Douglass. Betty worked as a meat wrapper at the Douglass Locker for thirteen years. After the business was sold, she made her career as a home maker. She also volunteered with the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Sunflower unit. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and traveling with her husband in the RV.
