Betty Brewer, 80, of Burden, Kansas passed away Tuesday evening, August 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Winfield.

Born November 16, 1931, in Winfield, Kansas she was the daughter of Derrel L. and Ruth L. (Young) Gardner. She was raised and received her education in Burden, Kansas.

Betty married Don Pierce on April 17, 1951. To this union 6 boys were born. The couple later divorced.

Betty was united in marriage to H. John Brewer on August 21, 1966 in Derby, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield and in 1990 they moved to Burden. She was a very active member of the Burden community helping in several fund raisers and community activities.

She was a member of the Burden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting on just about anything.

Her family includes:
Her sons: Brad Pierce of Burden; John Pierce of Burden; Todd Brewer of Burden;
Her brother: Bill Gardner and wife, Pat of Wichita;
Her 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Betty was preceded in death by her sons, Derrel, Jeff, Bill and Monty; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday afternoon, September 2, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at the Burden United Methodist Church.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Brewer's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
