Betty Arndt, 61, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, July 2 2008, at William Newton Hospital.

Born on July 22, 1946 in Reims, France, she was the daughter of Oscar George and Noelie (Gybels) Frieden. Her family moved to Kansas when Betty was one year old. She was raised in the Winfield area.

Betty was united in marriage to Gary Arndt in Miami, OK on March 9, 1973. The couple lived and raised their children in the Winfield area. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed gardening. Betty considered her life work loving and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Her daughters: Marlene Brooks of Burden; Melissa Noelie Webb and husband James of Winfield; Jennifer Arndt and fiancé Christopher Berry of Winfield;
Her sisters: Marie Ann Harris and husband James of Winfield; Brenda Adams of South Carolina;
Her grandchildren: Cedrick, Clayton, and Jacob Brooks; Kaleb and Ashley Albritton; and Brooke Webb.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her infant son Allen Banner Brooks.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Arndt's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
