BERT L. OTTO, 84, of Burden, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home.
Born April 14, 1927 in Copan, Oklahoma, he was the son of Bertram E. and Zella R. (DeVasher) Otto. He was raised and received his education in Russell, Kansas.
As a young man, Bert was an oil field worker. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Duncan on August 16, 1947 in Caney, Kansas. The couple lived in Arkansas City and later made their home in Burden in 1959. Bert was the owner and operator for United Van Line Moving & Storage for 27 years. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Otto was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Russell, Kansas. He enjoyed his work as well as making rings out of silver and gold coins. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His children: Richard Otto and wife, Kathy of Overland Park, KS; Deborah Keely and husband, Wes of Winfield; and Steven Otto and wife, Shiela of Burden;
His sister: Evva Morris of Arlington, TX;
His brother: Bob Otto of Burden;
His 8 grandchildren: Doug Otto, Aaron Keely, Kaylie Dinkins, Jennifer Keely, Breeanna Wilson, Megan Otto, Eric Otto, and Paul Otto; and
His 9 great grandchildren.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, Bertram and Zella, his brothers, Dale, Ted and Joe Dan, two infant siblings and his granddaughter, Jennifer Keely.
The family will hold a memorial service on Bert's birthday, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Burden Cemetery. Pastor Caleb McCary of the Burden Baptist Church will officiate. In case of inclement weather, the memorial service will be moved to First Baptist Church in Burden.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Mr. Otto's name for the First Baptist Church in Burden, Kansas. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
