Bernard "Dean" Crow, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, November 17, 2015 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Born November 8, 1927 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Norman F. and Nellie S. (Workman) Crow. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. After school, Dean joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country from 1945 to 1947. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Winfield.
He was united in marriage to D. Joan Worden on December 5, 1955 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Dean began working at Floyd Davis as an auto mechanic. He later worked for Russ's Auto Service before starting his career with the City of Winfield where he remained a mechanic for over 31 years until retiring. Mrs. Crow preceded him in death on January 17, 1997.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, baseball, softball, and above all his family.

His great grandchildren: Olivia and Hope Nation, Cooper, Carter and Lucy Nation, Gabrielle Birdwell, Kirsten Birdwell, Jace Conner, Cara Conner, Emma Hoffman, Kierran Hoffman, Lillian Hoffman, James Foreman IV, Caydence Billiter, Anson Tovar, Courtney Frazier, Alec Cassaboom;
His brother: Daryl Crow of Winfield;
His sister-in-law: Ada Hinson and husband, Bob of Nebraska; and
His numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dean was preceded in death by his brothers, William F. and Vernon Crow, his granddaughter, Amanda Carver, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Roberta VanFleet.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 1 to 3 that afternoon.
Memorials have been established in Dean's name for the VFW Post #3544 and American Legion Post #10. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
