Barbara A. Surface, 69, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Monday morning, January 1, 2018 at Via Christi Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Born April 9, 1948 in Neodesha, Kansas, she was the daughter of Byron C. and Jessie H. (Lippincott) Allen. She was united in marriage to Ronald J. Surface on January 20, 1968. The couple shared 44 years together before he preceded her in death.

Barbara's talents ranged from music. Including singing, bell-ringing and piano and organ performance; to crafts like quilting, knitting and needlepoint; to leading outdoor adventures, spending many years training generations of future Girl Scout leaders. She was also active at Grace United Methodist Church, participating in her Sunday School class for many years.

She is survived by four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A combined memorial service will be held for Barbara and her mother, Jessie on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church. Inurnment for Barbara will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Barbara's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
