BARBARA B. STEELE, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, April 21, 2010 at Cumbernauld Village.
Born November 12, 1921 in Bucklin, Kansas, she was the daughter of Harold H. "Shorty" and Winifred (Davis) Littrell. She was raised and received her education in Oxford.
Barbara was united in marriage to Leslie E. Steele on June 14, 1942 in Udall, Kansas. She worked at McClellans as a department manager and later in freight, and at Alco in the freight department. Mr. Steele preceded her in death on May 21, 1983.
She attended the First Assembly of God Church. Barbara was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and taking care of anyone that needed taken care of. She was a giver, but never expected anything in return. She enjoyed baking and was a great cook.

Her son: Larry L. Steele and wife, Veronia of Winfield;
Her daughters: Sandy Barker and husband, Bob of Winfield; and Sherry Long and husband, Dave of Mustang, Oklahoma;
Her sister: Sue (Littrell) Demir of Glen Burnie, Maryland;
Her 8 grandchildren: Jarrod, Jason, Jennie, Jamie, Nikki, Debbie, Robin and Julie;
Her 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren; and
Her nieces and nephews: Melek, Sureyya and Tay.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Steele, her brothers, Harold Littrell and R.T. Littrell, and her brother-in-law, Dr. Remzi Demir.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon, April 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 3 that afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Barbara's name for the Cumbernauld Village Employee Fund and for New Hope Fellowship Church. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
