BARBARA J. MCFARLAND, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 10, 2014 at William Newton Hospital.

Born on June 6, 1928 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Wayne and Beatrice (Dunlap) Peacock. She was raised and received her education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1946.

Barbara was united in marriage to Luther T. McFarland in 1954 in Wichita. The couple later separated. She worked at Mauer Neuer in Arkansas City, Boeing Aircraft and Farm Bureau Insurance. Barbara later was employed for Walmart for over 30 years as a department manager, retiring in 2008. She actively supported the Childrens Miracle Network through Walmart.

She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, crocheting dolls and crafts.

Her daughters: Vickie Rush and husband Aaron of Winfield, KS; Sandra Randel and husband Clay of Haysville, KS;
Her brother: Dwayne Peacock and wife Gene of Winfield, KS;
Her sister: Joan Hovey and husband Kenneth of Winfield, KS;
Her grandchildren: Kevin and Jeff McFarland, Phil Carson, Chad McFarland and wife Holly, Misti McFarland, Stefani Elliott and husband David, Andy McFarland and wife Kim, Quentin Rush and wife Janelle, Ashley Randel and Garret Randel; and
Her great-grandchildren: Jason, A.J., Chase, Josh, Derek, Lucas, Hannah, Hudson, Aden, Lukien and Marek.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 13, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 12, 2014. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Barbara's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
