Barbara Ann German, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 25, 2023, at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Born September 2, 1940, in Stafford, Kansas, she was the daughter of Chester C. and Lillie M. (Smiley) Forwalder. She was raised and received her education in Partridge, Kansas.

Barbara was united in marriage to Richard German on December 31, 1959. The couple made their first home in Hutchinson. Barbara worked as a postmaster for the US Postal Service and retired in 2000. She was a member of the Postmasters Association and the Rural Carrier Association. She enjoyed reading and doing needlecraft.

Her family includes her daughter-in-law Wanda German of Newkirk, OK; her brother Melvin Forwalder and wife, Beverly of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Christina Jumper and Anastasia Quint; her great grandchildren, Lane, Terri, Tyla, Wylee, and Kaycee.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, her son Raymond German, and her sister Carol Ballinger.

Memorial services will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Kansas at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
