BARBARA JOYCE BUCK, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, went to join her heavenly Father on March 14, 2009.
Born January 1, 1935 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Hoy and Thelma (Pierce) Ruhl. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, Atlanta and Latham.
She was united in marriage to James E. Buck in 1951. To this union, four children were born. The couple later divorced.
Barbara worked for the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center as a charge nurse for approximately 45 years. She attended Cowley County Community College where she took the classes needed to obtain her LMHT 2 license. She was involved with the Midnight Bowling League in Winfield for several years. She loved to bowl, travel, work in the garden and the yard and she enjoyed all kinds of animals.

Her sons: James E. Buck, Jr. of Cedar Vale; Hoy Ray Buck and companion, Barbara of Winfield;
Her 8 grandchildren: Shane Fisher and wife, Sheri of Winfield; Sabrina Bonilla and husband, Don of Wichita; PJ Vaughn and Christie Vaughn both of Wichita; Heather Coury and husband, Eli of Arkansas City; Mia Topper and husband, David of Winfield; Heath Buck of New York; and James Hess of Andover;
Her 21 great grandchildren;
Several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren;
One Great-great grandchild; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Jenkins.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, March 18, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 9. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Barbara's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
