Barbara Ann (Askins) Tolbert, 71, of Winfield passed away July 23, 2015 at her home surrounded by family.

Barbara was born March 10, 1944 in Winfield, KS to Walter and Inez Tompkins Askins. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1962 and then attended Cosmetology School in Wichita, KS. She then operated her own Beauty Salon until the mid 70's. Barbara worked in the construction field for many years, working for Darrell Pearce of Snodgrass & Funk Construction, and Don Coon of Coon Construction. Barbara then went to work for Ted Shore of Pro Maintenance where she worked at the Cowley County Courthouse for over 15 years until her retirement.

Barbara is survived by her children; Jolea Coon and husband Curtiss; Michael Knapp; Chad Tolbert and wife Sherry. Her brothers Allen Askins and wife Lois, Ron Askins and wife Joyce, sisters Elaine Bolack and companion Norm Weathers, and Janet Shorter, and her special cousin and very dear friend Helen McKenzie. Her grandchildren Kurt Coon and wife Jene, Cory Coon, Heather Tolbert, Haley Knapp, Haden Tolbert, and Lacey Knapp. Her great grandchildren Braden, Aubry, and Piper Coon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and granddaughter Kasey Nykole Coon.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private family inurnment will take place at Cambridge Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Barbara's name for Rivercross Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
