AUDINE E. LEVERING, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 14, 2011 at Winfield Good Samaritan Village.

Born on December 20, 1920 in Rock, Kansas, she was the daughter of Otis M. and Eva Mae (Wilson) Heimer. She was raised and received her education in Rock.

She was united in marriage to Vernon Cooley. To this union 5 children were born, Ron, Richard, Vernon Jr., Jean and Carolyn. The couple later divorced.

Audine was employed as a switchboard operator at William Newton Memorial Hospital in the 1950's. She later was employed for Cowley County in the District Clerk Office. She also worked for a short time at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in the food service department.

In 1960, Audine married Lester Miller. Mr. Miller preceded her in death in 1979.

She later married Robert Levering and they later divorced.

Audine was a member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing.

Her family includes:
Her sons: Ron Cooley and wife Brenda of Winfield, KS; and Richard Cooley and wife Janice of Shawnee, KS;
Her daughters: Jean Antle and husband John of Mulvane, KS; and Carolyn Swiler and husband Kenneth of Cherryvale, KS:
Her 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Lester Miller; a son, Vernon Cooley Jr., and a brother, Price Heimer.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Highland Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Audine's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
