Arthur W. "Pete" Swanson, 89, of Geuda Springs, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, July 9, 2022, at his home.

Born October 26, 1932, in Geuda Springs, he was the son of Harry and Pearl (Guy) Swanson.  He was raised and received his education in Geuda Springs, graduating from Geuda Springs High School in 1950.

Arthur was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Craven on May 3, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Geuda Springs.  The couple made their home near Geuda Springs.  Art farmed his entire life, starting with five acres and a cow, he built the family farm to what it is today.  Virginia preceded Art in death on March 1, 2015.

He enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Colorado, Las Vegas, and Carlsbad Caverns. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing Pitch.

His family includes his children, Stanley A. Swanson of Arkansas City; Monie L. Donlay and husband, Bryan of Winfield; Mark W. Swanson and wife, Paco of Arkansas City; Angela P. Gradwell and husband, Stephen of Arkansas City; and his 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Art was preceded in death by his eight siblings, Richard, Vera, Francis, Fred, Ted, Juanita, Freda, and Fern, and a son Barton Swanson and his wife Terri.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Tannehill Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service Wednesday evening from 4 to 8.  The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Art's name for the American Cancer Society.   Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
