Obituary

Arthur Fredrick O'Donnell, 78, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, November 24, 2023, at Medicalodges in Arkansas City.

Born December 3, 1944, in Junction City, Kansas, he was the son of Harry Edwin and Margaret Louise (Large) O'Donnell.  Arthur was raised and received his education in Junction City.  Following his high school graduation, Arthur enlisted in the United States Navy.  He proudly served his country for three years until his honorable discharge in 1965.

After a short time studying at Kansas State University, Arthur returned home to Junction City and began his used car lot, O'Donnell Motors.  He owned and operated O'Donnell Motors for many years before moving to Manhattan and working at U-Save Auto Rental.  Arthur later moved to Overland Park and worked at several car lots in the area.  He always had it on his schedule to attend the I-70 Auto Auction on Monday nights.  After his father died, Arthur moved to Arkansas City where he remained until his passing.

He attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City and enjoyed playing golf.  Arthur had a special place in his heart for animals, including his beloved dog, Taco.

His family includes his son Aaron O'Donnell and wife, Sarah; his grandsons, Oakley and Dawson O'Donnell, all of Arkansas City; his daughter Dawn O'Donnell; his step-daughter Tarla Fegan; his sister Shannon Mills and husband, Galen of Cincinnati, OH; and his brother Michael O'Donnell and wife, Sharon of Oklahoma City, OK.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents.

Private memorial services with Military Committal Honors will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Arthur's name for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
