ARTHUR "ELDON" DARNELL, 70, lifelong Winfield resident, passed away Thursday morning, March 15, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Born May 11, 1941 in Winfield, he was the son of Harold and Lela (Wilson) Darnell. He was raised educated in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School.
Eldon worked for the City of Winfield as an electrical lineman for several years. He also owned and operated the Little Casino for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3544 and the American Legion Post #10 in Winfield. He loved the outdoors including hunting and camping. He especially loved fishing and Roaring River in Cassville, Missouri.

His children: Ken of Winfield; Donna of Oklahoma; Mike and wife, Janet of Hutchinson; Pam and husband, Randy of Ozawkie, KS; Tina and husband, John of Oklahoma; Greg and wife, Nina of Newton; Hunter and Hayden of Burden; and Bobby of Louisiana;
His brothers and sister: Barbara of Winfield; Sam and Judy of Wichita; and Charlie and Sharon of Harper; and
Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and a son, Anthony Eldon Darnell.
Cremation has been effected. The family will hold a memorial service and inurnment on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Cemetery. A picnic lunch will be provided for all family and friends at noon following the service at the Rotary Pavilion at Island Park.
A Memorial has been established in Eldon's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
