Arthur Paul "A.P." Greer, 71, previously of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his home in Winfield.

Born June 12, 1950, in Woodward, Oklahoma, he was the son of Pat and Ruby (Haney) Greer.  He was raised and received his education in Dexter, Kansas, graduating from Dexter High School.  As a young man, A.P. worked as a farmhand and hay hauling.  He attended Cowley County Community College before entering the United States Navy in February 1971.  He proudly served his country as a Machinist Mate on a Nuclear Submarine aboard the SSN Tinosa.  He received an honorable discharge from active duty in 1973 and joined the Navy Reserve.  Following the Navy, A.P. attended Southwestern College where he earned a bachelor's degree.

He was united in marriage to Merla Latta on December 22, 1968 at the Dexter Christian Church.  A.P. worked at Binney & Smith and later in sales and marketing for Ritchie Industries and Monoflo International.  He then worked for Bohlmann Inc. where he remained until his retirement in 2010.

A.P. was a member of the Dexter Christian Church, the American Legion Post #10 and recently attended New Hope Fellowship Church in Winfield.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and collecting Native American artifacts.

His family includes his wife Merla Greer of Winfield; his sons, Paul Greer and wife, Laurie of Winnie, TX; Jeffrey Greer and wife, Sheridan of Ponca City, OK; his daughter Melissa Buchanan and husband, Brian of Wellington; his children by choice, Adam Christopher of Florida; Nuria Dela Chica of Spain; Dina Leigreid of Norway; Brenda Bosch of Netherlands; and Peter Turček of Slovakia;  his step-brothers Mike and David Wood; his grandchildren, Heather Greer, Tyler Luman, Ruby Jo Greer, Greer Buchanan, Aceson Greer, Adilynn Greer, and Drake Greer; and his great grandchildren, Kayden and Chloe Swain, and Emilia and Penelope Rodriguez.

In addition to his mother and father, A.P. was preceded in death by his stepfather Dwain Wood, brothers, Mike and Jimmy Greer, a step-sister Susan Parker, and a sister-in-law Sharon Greer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 18, 2022, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. The family will greet visitors during that time.

A memorial has been established in A.P.'s name for the Dexter High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
