Beloved father, husband, son, brother, cousin, and friend, Anthony George Elliott - better known to many as Tony – returned from a family hiking trip in the mountains of Idaho around June 30th of this year showing signs of Rocky Spotted Mountain Fever from a tick bite. He started treatment but symptoms progressively worsened until on July 10, 2022, Tony passed away from complications due to this disease at his home in Winfield, Kansas. His mischievous grin and dry wit, his intelligence, his kindness, and his reassuring demeanor will be missed by all who knew him.
Tony was born June 14,, 1983 in Boise, Idaho, just a short hop from the Plaza Ranch in Emmett, Idaho where he was raised. It was there that he learned his life-long strong work ethic and love of family. He loved the farm. Tony was the youngest sibling, behind his older sister Jessica and his brother Woody, for a number of years until his baby brother Sam joined the family, but Tony was a quiet leader and often the voice of reason for the whole crew, including his many cousins. He had the most contagious, full-bodied laugh and would start laughing so hard telling a funny story that he could barely make it through. The cousins all knew that when Tony was involved some fun was going to be had!
Tony graduated from Emmett High School in 2001. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2003- 2005. He remained an active member of the church serving in multiple volunteer capacities through his life, the most recent being a Counselor in the Arkansas City Branch. Tony was full of the spirit of service, inside or outside his church capacities and was always looking at small or large opportunities to help and serve others. One cousin recounts how he was visiting them for a brief two days, saw a neighbor of theirs struggling to complete some work on his property, and ended up spending a good portion of his "vacation" working at the neighbors! Tony never did things for attention; it was all about intention and never hesitated to help others.
Tony met the love of his life AnnaRosa Church, also from Emmett, and was completely smitten. Even after years of marriage, his face would light up when he spoke about her and he was constantly sharing with great pride what an amazing, strong woman he married with the sly smile of an infatuated schoolboy on his face. Their shared love of the outdoors lead them on many adventures throughout their marriage. Tony and AnnaRosa were married December 17th, 2005. After their wedding, they balanced completing his education and starting their beautiful family with their oldest son, Jackson. Soon after came Shannon, Clara, Roy and finally Lily. Tony's children were his world and his greatest priority. During this time, Tony attended BYU Idaho, completed his Bachelor's degree, moved to Iowa to finished his medical degree in Podiatric Science, and completed his Residency in Illinois. The family moved to Winfield, Kansas to join his practice, and the family has resided there ever since – moving eventually to their lovely family farm outside of town. Tony is known throughout the area as a kind, conscientious physician, family man and friend. He spoke often of the concern he had for his patients and the respect he had for his colleagues. Tony never belittled anyone, and he made everyone feel important. Anyone he met was instantly an equal and quickly a friend.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norvil and Beverly Bingham Elliott of Emmett, Idaho, his grandparents George and Betty Munk Barton of Manti, Utah, and his beloved Aunt Barbara Elliott Weissenbuehler of Emmett.
Tony is survived by his wife - AnnaRosa Church Elliott; his five children – Jackson (13), Shannon (11), Clara (8), Roy (6), and Lily (3); his parents - Bryan and Joanne Barton Elliott; three siblings - Jessica Elliott Hillman (Timm Stewart), Elwood "Woody" Elliott, Samuel Elliott (Alisha); many loving In-Laws including AnnaRosa's parents - Ray and Sharon Mouritsen Church, and her brothers and sisters – Jimmy Church (Christina), Maria Canady (Stacey), Jason Church (Becky), John Church (Shawnee), Jerimiah Church (Sheri), Rosita Hansen (Jordan), Jesse Church (Becca), Aleta Oribio (Efrain), Ramona Church and Camilla Church; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will deeply miss his humor, his smile, and his generous heart.
