Obituary

ANNA (JOAN) H. DAVIS, 97, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, August 14, 2010 at the Dexter Care Center.

Born on August 18, 1912 in Pueblo, Colorado, she was the daughter of James and Anna (Corey) McGann. She was raised in Pueblo and later Dodge City, Kansas where she received her education. In 1927, the family moved to Winfield and Joan worked as a waitress.

She was united in marriage on February 14, 1934 to Martin Davis in Winfield where the couple made their home. Joan was employed at McClellans where she ran the soda fountain. She later was employed at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in the food service department. She retired in 1977. Mr. Davis preceded her in death on September 27, 1982.

Joan was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church of which she had been a member for over 50 years. She was active in the Alter Society at the church. Her hobbies included her family, golf and cooking.

Her family includes:
Her son: Marty Davis and wife Gloria of Winfield, KS;
Her daughter: Martha Davis of Dallas, TX;
Her grandchildren: Jeff Davis, Jeanne Trefethen and Jamie Harrod; and
Her great-grandchildren: Jonathan Austin, Kristen Davis and Amanda Harrod.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at St. Mary's Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Anna's name for the Dexter Care Center. Contributions may be made Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
