ALFRED SHELTON, 95, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, February 25, 2010 at the Dexter Care Center.
Born April 13, 1914 in Faxon, Oklahoma, he was the son of George and Delia (Meeks) Shelton. He was reared and educated in Oklahoma. Alfred was united in marriage to Merle Siler on February 1, 1935 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Mrs. Shelton preceded him in death on October 12, 1988.
Mr. Shelton was the Township Maintainer for Liberty Township. He made his career as a farmer. He was a member of the Dexter Christian Church. He loved fishing and horses, and also enjoyed hay bailing and coon hunting.

His sons: Wendell Shelton and wife Sharian of Jay, Oklahoma; Tom Shelton and wife, Linda of Arkansas City, Kansas; Larry Shelton and wife, Shirley of Burden, Kansas; and Jack Shelton and wife, Marie of Arkansas City, Kansas;
His daughter: Vivian Tyler and husband, Arlo of Blossom, Texas;
His brother: Lloyd Shelton of Winfield, Kansas;
His sister: Pat Patterson of Anthony, Kansas;
His 17 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren; and
His special friend: Lu Fallier of of Arkansas City, Kansas.
In addition to his parents and wife, Alfred was preceded in death by his grandsons, Calvin and Mark Shelton, and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at the Dexter Christian Church in Dexter. Interment will follow at Rose Valley Cemetery, southeast of Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4.
A Memorial may be made in Mr. Shelton's name to the Dexter Christian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
