Aletha "Kay" Jordan, 70, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, August 8, 2023, at her home.
Born February 26, 1953, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Raymond Darrel and Wilmetta Marie (Doolittle) Sweet. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1971.
Kay lived her life in Winfield, working at several area businesses, including Clock Medical Supply, Winfield Laundry, Crayola, Graves Drug, and SRS, before starting her career with the Kansas Department of Corrections. She worked as a Corrections Officer for over 20 years, until retiring in 2019.
She was united in marriage to Dallas Jordan on October 24, 2020 in Arkansas City, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. Kay enjoyed animals, cooking, music, and working the entry trailer at the Bluegrass Festival. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Her family includes her husband Dallas Jordan of Winfield; and her brothers, Chet Sweet and wife, Danice of Arkansas City; Alvin Ray Sweet and wife, Rita of Hurst, TX.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by a brother Charles Dunbar.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service. A private family interment will be held at Wilmot Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Kay's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
