Alene Sue Miller, 84, of rural Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, December 17, 2020.

Born March 6, 1936 in Geuda Springs, Kansas, she was the daughter of Walter and Amanda (Hauser) Graham. Alene was raised and received her early education in Geuda Springs and later in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1954. While in high school, Alene worked at as a secretary in the high school office as well as at William Newton Hospital.

Alene was united in marriage to Philip S. Miller on July 3, 1954. The couple made their home on the family farm east of Winfield. Alene worked as a secretary in various places including Tisdale United Methodist Church, Bob Redford Insurance Company, Walnut Valley Festival, Webber Land Company, and Farm Bureau Insurance. She and Philip were active at Tisdale United Methodist Church. They were youth sponsors for several years and planned sponsored "Tisdale Family Camps" in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Philip preceded her in death on April 21, 2012.

Alene married Robert "Bob" Hamm in July 2014. Due to failing health and being unable to care for each other, the couple separated. Alene loved her church and her family. She also enjoyed flowers, embroidery, and collecting rocks everywhere she went, for her rock garden.

Her family includes her children, Douglas Allen Miller and wife, Marilyn of Winfield; Linda Beth Copeland and husband, Tim of Lindsborg; Sara Lynn Pines and husband, David of Winfield; her sister Irene Graham Koby of Ennis, TX; her grandchildren, Molly Weathers, Kristin Priest, Sarah Owens, Kate Pina, Kelly Copeland, Maggie Hoefler, Ally Robinson, Ryan Copeland, Isaac Copeland; her 23 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alene was preceded in death by her brothers, Herman and Delbert Graham and a sister Caroline Newlin.

Private funeral services will be held at Tisdale United Methodist Church. A public graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Tisdale Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors that evening.

Memorials have been established in Alene's name for Harry Hynes Hospice and for Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
