Obituary

ALBERTA MAE CROFT, 75, of Oxford, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2011 at her home.

Born on August 6, 1935 in Anthony, Kansas, she was the daughter of Albert and Edna (Swafford) Bruce. She was raised and received her education in Anthony and Argonia, Kansas.

She was united in marriage on July 20, 1954 to Benny Croft in Miami, Oklahoma. Alberta was employed at Cessna Aircraft at Strother Field. She later was employed for Sumner County Educational Services as a paraprofessional for 15 years. Mr. Croft preceded her in death on July 18, 1995.

Alberta loved spending time with her family and helping students reach their goals. She left an imprint on many young minds in the Oxford community.

Her family includes:
Her daughters: Pam Ireland of Winfield, KS; and Marsha Jackson and husband Richard of Lyndon, KS;
Her sisters: Carol Mills of Hoisington, KS; and Nancy Helms of Hutchinson, KS;
Her 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Rusty and Randy Croft; and her grandson, Justin Croft.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Oxford High School Auditorium. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been established in Alberta's name for Hospice Care of Kansas and the Science Department at the Oxford High School. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
