Obituary

AILEENE ROTHA, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2009 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Born on July 2, 1915 in rural Ashton, Kansas, she was the seventh and youngest living child born to Elmer Eugene and Rose Blanche (Stout) Kingsbury. As the baby in the family, she was nicknamed Babe. Aileene graduated from Dexter High School in 1933. She attended Pittsburg State University and received her Bachelor's degree in 1937. She taught in Concordia, Grenola and Hays, Kansas before returning to Pittsburg State University where she received her Master's degree in 1943. That summer, Aileene took a civil service exam and moved to Washington, D.C., to work as a professional assistant in Data Programs and Procurement. When the Japanese surrendered in August 1945, she accepted a job with North American Van Lines in Cleveland, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, she moved to their new offices in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

She was united in marriage on May 13, 1954 to Powell Amos Rayburn in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Rayburn preceded her in death in 1958. On December 30, 1969, Aileene married Albert William Ludtke in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Ludtke preceded her in death in 1972.

Aileene retired from North American Van Lines in 1973 and moved to Winfield, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Max Milton Rotha on June 22, 1974 in Winfield where the couple made their home. Mr. Rotha preceded her in death on January 7, 1983.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield. She loved playing bridge every Wednesday which she was still active in at the time of her death.

Her family includes:
Her step-daughter: Jerry Ann DiVecchio of California;
And several nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Clyde C. Kingsbury and Lawrence D. Kingsbury; her 4 sisters, Neta L. Haney, Ethel M. Kaster, A. Luciel Ridings and Ora I. Parsons; her step-son, Larry Rotha; and her step-daughter, Kerry Rotha.
