Adron "Abe" Conner, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, March 17, 2017 at his home.
Born November 30, 1934 in Mellwood, Arkansas, he was the son of Richard and Stella (Morgan) Conner. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas City, Kansas. After school, he worked for a short time as a pin setter at the Arkansas City bowling alley. Abe joined the United States Navy in January of 1953 and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. In November 1954, he was honorably discharged and returned to Arkansas City where he began working at the flour mill.
Abe was united in marriage to Carrol Ann Collins on May 22, 1955 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Arkansas City. In 1956, Abe began working at the Winfield flour mill. The couple then moved their family to Winfield. In 1962, Abe began working for GE, where he remained for over 38 years until retiring as a supervisor in 1990. Following retirement, he enjoyed flipping homes at Grand Lake.
He was a member of VFW Post #3544 and the American Legion Post #10. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, golfing, playing the guitar, helping his friends and attending Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival.

In addition to his parents, Abe was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rufus Conner, a brother, Elmer "Kitt" Conner, a sister, Edith Conner Harris, two grandsons, Thomas Potter and E. Zachary Halverstadt, grandson-in-law, Tyler Wilson, a cousin, Donald Branch, his step-mother, Mildred Conner and a son, Randy Allen Conner.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Abe's name for the VFW Post #3544. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
